Benefit Systems Amplifies Fitness Footprint with 5 New Calypso Fitness Club Acquisitions

2023-10-31 source own
Benefit Systems is broadening its array of owned fitness clubs with the acquisition of five Calypso Fitness facilities located in Warsaw, Katowice, and Bytom. This expansion will enhance the company's offerings in major urban areas, bringing the total number of clubs in its Polish network to 208.

The deal, valued at 22 million PLN, includes a payment of 13 million PLN by Benefit Systems to the other shareholders of Calypso Fitness SA.
Growing Influence of Benefit Systems

The newly acquired clubs include Calypso Fitness Warszawa Adgar, spanning 1,858 square meters in the Ochota district's office building, Calypso Fitness Warszawa Białołęka in a standalone structure with parking (1,080 square meters), Calypso Fitness Bytom (1,530 square meters) in the Agora shopping center, and two Katowice locations: Calypso Fitness Katowice Silesia (1,997 square meters) and Calypso Fitness Katowice Supersam (1,828 square meters), both situated in popular shopping malls.

Marcin Fojudzki, a board member of Benefit Systems, comments, “Our strong financial position enables us to pursue strategic expansion of our own club network through acquisitions. With a growing base of MultiSport Program users, we aim to offer them top-quality standards and a diverse range of fitness clubs. Following our acquisition of 16 clubs earlier this year and after thorough analysis, we opted to add five more sizable and appealing Calypso Fitness locations. These are highly regarded by both our sports card users and individual clients, and they perfectly augment our portfolio in crucial markets like Warsaw and Silesia."

This year, Benefit Systems has reinforced its network by acquiring Gravitan clubs (2) in October, Manufaktura Zdrowia (2) and Studio Energia in recent months, and Saturn Fitness (6) and Calypso Fitness chain clubs (16) earlier in 2023.
Benefit Systems’ Stake in Calypso Fitness

Holding a 33.33% stake in Calypso Fitness SA, Benefit Systems shares ownership with Camaro FIZAN (50.1%) and CAL Capital sp. z o. o. (16.57%). CAL Capital plans to allocate approximately 3.2 million PLN, earned from the transaction after settling public liabilities, to the goals of the MultiSport Foundation, established by Benefit Systems.

For over two decades, Benefit Systems has been a significant player in the Polish market, leading in offering non-salary benefits that enhance employee well-being. The company introduced the MultiSport Program, facilitating physical activities nationwide, and also offers the MyBenefit cafeteria platform and the MultiLife wellbeing program.

In addition to Poland, the company has been expanding its sports offerings in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Croatia. The Benefit Systems Group operates over 220 fitness clubs across these four markets, including chains like Zdrofit, Fitness Academy, My Fitness Place, Fabryka Formy, StepONE, Total Fitness, FitFabric, Saturn Fitness, Manufaktura Zdrowia, and Gravitan.

Benefit Systems actively promotes an active lifestyle for all ages, supporting physical activities for children, adults, and seniors, primarily through the MultiSport Foundation. Since 2018, it has joined the global B Corp initiative, uniting businesses committed to addressing pressing societal issues.
