RSG Group Expands Global Reach with New John Reed Fitness Club in Berlin's Historic Building

RSG Group has inaugurated its premier John Reed fitness club in Berlin, marking a significant expansion of its global 'world city' portfolio. This latest establishment is the 49th under the John Reed brand, with RSG continuing to explore expansion opportunities for this upscale fitness label in both the US and European markets.

John Reed clubs are strategically positioned in major cosmopolitan cities, with operational facilities already in locations such as Budapest, Prague, Venice, Zurich, Istanbul, Paris, Los Angeles, and Vienna. RSG maintains rigorous standards for selecting sites, emphasizing optimal locations and architectural distinctiveness to enhance the unique blend of fitness, art, and music that defines the brand.

The newly opened John Reed Friedrichshain in Berlin, situated in a historic 19th-century building formerly used as a slaughterhouse, stands out with its original architectural elements like steel beams intact. This site, the seventh in Berlin for the brand, spans seven stories.

The club showcases art from both local and international talents, including Otto Baum, Innerfields, and Dutch graffiti artist Marcus Debie, creating a vibrant atmosphere that merges nightclub vibes with fitness through on-site DJs.

Spanning 2,700 square meters, the facility offers extensive cardio areas, a vast free weights section, and a machine park featuring equipment from Gym80 and Matrix. It also includes spaces for functional and group workouts, with this being the second John Reed location to house a Reformer Pilates studio.

For relaxation, the club offers dual saunas, one of which is women-only, and a coffee and health bar serving nutritious refreshments. Additional services available include body check-ups, nutrition coaching, and personalized training plans.

While RSG has established a presence in London with a John Reed club that opened in 2021 on Liverpool Street, the company remains focused on maintaining just this single location in the UK. This approach aligns with a broader trend among premium fitness operators who are developing portfolios in world cities rather than concentrating multiple facilities in fewer cities, a strategy supported by lean management practices.

Under the leadership of CEOs Dr. Jobst Müller-Trimbusch and Hagen Wingertzahn, following founder Rainer Schaller's passing, RSG Group is dedicating efforts towards restructuring and emphasizing its fitness brands. Established in 1997, RSG Group now boasts over 4.5 million members across 30 countries, reaffirming its commitment to the core of its business: fitness and well-being.
