Waldhaus Flims to undergo overhaul

The world-renowned Waldhaus Flims hotel in Switzerland is set to invest €36 million in order to offer a more luxurious hotel and spa experience to its visitors whilst maintaining the strong history that the resort offers. Z Capital Partners, who also owns Carillon Miami Beach, is the current owner of the resort after purchasing the complex at the very end of last year. This expansion is the first international operation for the group and they have wasted no time making changes to the 150-room hotel.

Peter Silling and Associates, interior design company from Hong Kong, has been put in charge of the project as major changes are expected. A total of 11 treatment rooms will be available upon completion after three new rooms are added, a luxury suite will also be available for couples. The current 700 square foot fitness room will also increase in size dramatically to over 1500 square foot. In addition to this, upgrades will also be brought to the Grand Hotel, Chalet Belmont and Villa Silvana. The restaurant is also set to be remodelled and technology across the whole resort is set to upgrade significantly.

Managing Director of the Waldhaus Flims, Peter Schoch, has said “The renovation will establish the Waldhaus Flims as the premier destination resort in the Swiss Alps. We plan to combine the renowned traditions of the property with incomparable guest services and amenities to deliver an unparalleled experience to visitors of this truly exceptional destination and look forward to maximising its full potential.”

The resort has a long history having first opened way back in 1877 and has even found fame on the movie scene with the recent release of Youth; this saw the visit of Michael Caine, Rachel Weisz, and more. The overhaul is set to take four months and will be closed between September and December to accommodate this; the owners are hoping for a relaunch in December, marking one year since their takeover.
