Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix will soon take its first lap
2014-06-28 source ownThis month, tickets will go on sale for the first Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix. The race will be held on 12 October, 2014, the 100th anniversary of the last Russian Grand Prix. It will be the sixteenth race of the 2014 Formula 1 season and will be held in the Sochi Autodrom. The Autodrom is the first circuit of its kind in Russia, and the first step in developing Russian Motorsport. Richard Cregan, CEO of Rasgaira and consultant for the Russian Grand Prix, is hoping that ticket sales go well and that Formula 1 will be returning to Russia in the future.“Our main goal is to create a commercially profitable business and we see perfect conditions for that in Sochi,” the Russian Formula 1 consultant said.“Nothing of a kind has ever been done before,” he added. There was previously no infrastructure capable of hosting an event like the Grand Prix. Cregan notes that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to get the city ready for the event but there are possibilities for growth in the future.Tickets for the event can be purchased on the promoter’s website. There will be more than 45,000 tickets available, with prices starting at 5,000 rubles ($145).
