2014-07-23 source own

Poland's Rafal Majka has won two stages so far in the 2014 Tour de France the 14th and 17th stages. Rafal Majka the Tinkoff-Saxo's rider is currently the holder of the polka dot jersey as the leader of the king of the mountain’s classification. Poland has 5 riders in this year’s tour with Michal Kwiatkowski the most prominent of the other 4 riders, Michal rides for Mark Cavendish’s team  Omega Pharma Quick-Step Cycling and held the white jersey for 2 stages 8 and 9 in the 2014 tour as the leading young rider.  Before 2014 Polish riders had only ever achieved one stage win in the Tour De France, which was won by Zenon Jaskuła in 1993. The other success of note for Poland in the tour was that polish rider Lech Piasecki  held the leader's yellow jersey in 1987 for 2 days.

With Poland’s success in the 2014 tour this will only help increase the popularity of road cycling in Poland and therefore create opportunities for growth for the bicycling industry in the this leading Central European market.
