Croatian Post Plans to Purchase E-bike Fleet

Croatian Post has launched a tender for the purchase of 180 E-bikes. The bikes are going to replace 180 scooters, with traditional engines, presently used for mail delivery. The decision to change to E- bikes was reached after Pro-E-bike organized for the Croatian Post to evaluate the bicycles in daily use. The project will receive financial support from the Croatian government that wants to replace gas powered vehicles.
The call for tenders is open
The Croatian Post E-bike tender is open, and they look forward to procuring a healthy number of bids, said Rzewnicki. He pointed out that the requirements the companies need to satisfy are high: The tender requires a 2-year guarantee; additionally the batteries need to have the capacity for 800 re-charges. “So they anticipate minimal maintenance costs over that period.”
Many Central Eastern European (CEE) countries currently have fleets of bikes in the service of postal delivery. In Croatia, the post bikes are from the Krpan Company, which additionally supplies to the postal services of Estonia, Hungary, Bosnia Herzegovina, Latvia, and others.
The acquisition costs will exceed €400,000, with 40% of the total cost provided by the Croatian government’s Green Fund to promote clean technology.
