Relaunch of Slovenian Rog Bikes?

2015-10-05 source own

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia  Back in the old days of Yugoslavia and then later on in Slovenia, Rog used to be the biggest bike manufacturer in the country, a few years ago, Elan Bikes joined Rog, but the union did not have a happy ending.  Now, the brand is making a comeback into the market after many years of silence.

At an auction following the bankruptcy of Notik&V, Rog’s bike brand was sold. Notik&V had earlier purchased the brand name of Rog’s bike in a public auction where they paid 80,000 euro in 2009.

Only the brand

At the auction conducted last week, 45,100 euro was paid by Fura just to obtain the brand name of the bike. Only the brand was purchased since the factory located in Ljubljana is long gone.

The company that bought the Rog bike brand name Fura is just a small company which engages in the development and selling of e-bikes. In the tourism region of prekmurje which is very close to the Hungarian border, this small company also engages in building a network of charging stations. The last update on the website of this company was way back 2012; the company’s turnover is certainly small. The company is yet to make any public announcement about its plans for the brand. One thing is certain, though, the brand is still very popular among folks in that region.
