Poland: New skating arena in Stegny

POLAND Kraków-base architectural studio Kontrapunkt V-Projekt has released pictures of the modernization project for Warsaw's Stegny skating arena.
The new design features highlight roofing structure of the current ice rink and specialized framework, there is also improvement of another building, which will consolidate sports, managerial, administrative and specialized services. The ice arena and the new building will most likely be linked by the same rooftop. The modernized center will permit universal class sporting events to be held, for example, speed skating, short-track, figure ice-skating, hockey and twisting. A running track is to be constructed around the speed skating arena, while the rink itself will be covered over for off season events and sporting activities, such as, basketball, volleyball or handball matches, with seating for 6,200 spectators. The development work is to commence in 2016 with a total construction spend expected to be 160 million. Once finished, this will be the first roofed speed ice-skating arena in the nation.
