Puma is now a well-known name in the footballing world; however, they have just announced that they will be investing in handball in an attempt to raise its public following. Puma General Manager, Matthias Baumer, said “In addition to football, Puma wants to place a greater emphasis on handball from 2016 and invest in the sport again.”

It is also believed that Puma is in talks with the THW Kiel handball team in order to reach a deal regarding the supply of equipment. Having signed a deal with Adidas until the end of the 2016/17 season, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the top team in the national handball league.

Handball is one of the fastest growing team sports in Central Europe with reports of handball being the 2nd most popular team sport in Germany behind soccer and the 3rd most popular team sport in Poland behind soccer and volleyball.
