Export Increase Witnessed By German Bicycle Exports

German Bicycle Exports has seen a massive performance in term of sales. Based on sales estimates from ‘ZweiradIndustrieVerband’ (ZIV) – Germany Industry Association – about 670,000 E-bike were sold within the first six months of this year. As a result, estimation of 850,000 e-bikes is expected to be sold by the end of 2018. This rate of sales amounts to 18% increment in relative to the previous year.

Recently, a ZIV market claims that “Excellent weather conditions in the first half of this year created an ideal market situation for cycling.” This report justifies the reason behind the massive sales of bicycles in 2018. Consequently, the sales of e-bikes, parts, and accessories have been on a high.

Exportation Exceeds Importation

Within a space of six months, the production of bicycles and e-bikes has been on the rise with an estimated value of 1.33 million units which is about 1.9% increment when compared to the previous year. Also, during the same period, approximately 2.8 million units of Bicycles and e-bike has been sold which tallies a 6% increment.

On importation, there has been a much intake of bicycles and e-bikes to Germany, which boasts an increment of 10% to around 2.17 million units. In summary, an average value of 25% blinks on the importation shares of e-bikes within the six months. However, rather than importation, the German Bicycle Industry gained more in exportation by exporting a total of 730,000 units (248,000 e-bikes), which is about 11% increment.
