Czech Republic’s ‘ForBikes’ Show looking to the future

2019-10-03 source own
ForBikes is one of the largest cycling shows in  Central Europe and is continuing the trend for movement towards  e-bikes. It is likely that e-bikes will soon surpass the market in ordinary mechanical bikes.  The show, held in Prague last weekend, attracted over 30,000 visitors.

There was an entire hall dedicated to electric bikes at the show.  The Chinese drivetrain manufacturer, Bafange sponsored an outdoor test track for ebikes.  The company has it’s European HQ in the Netherlands, and its drive systems are popular in the Czech Republic.  It is powering most ebikes in the region, hence its sponsorship of the show.  The test track allowed visitors to try out over 170 e-bikes representing 25 brands.

Electric Mountain Bikes are the  most popular

The E-MTB is definitely the most popular category of e-bike within the  Czech Republic accounting for over 50% of sales.  There are lower-end models at around €1,200 using hub motors, but also high-end versions produced by  Giant, Haibike, Specialized, etc.

ForBikes was used by brands like Czeck-based Crussis to launch its  own national campaign fronted by  hockey star and Olympian,  Jaromir Jagr. He was at the show to launch the company’s  gold-painted Bosch P-CX powered “JAGR68”.
