ANWR Expands by Integrating Zentrasport Austria and Czech Group into Sport 2000

The announcement is now official: Zentrasport Austria, known as Sport 2000 Austria, is joining forces with the ANWR Group. Additionally, a new partnership with a Czech association has been established. The agreement, signed on June 6th in Mainhausen, marks the official acquisition of Zentrasport Österreich eG's operational business by the ANWR Group. This move ensures the cooperative's future and secures jobs at the Ohlsdorf site, with the final closing expected in September.
Martina Novotny, CEO of the ANWR Group, expressed her satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, "We are delighted to finalize the takeover of Zentrasport. This offers our affiliated members a secure framework for the future." The decision was facilitated by productive discussions with Zentrasport's management and supervisory board, culminating in a pivotal shareholders' meeting on January 11th.
Integrating SPORT 2000 Austria into the ANWR Group significantly bolsters the international trade cooperation's sports division. Tobias Eichmeier, ANWR Group board member overseeing the sports business, explains, "Sport 2000 GmbH, which previously included five countries, now expands to a seven-country association with Austria and the Czech Republic. We anticipate synergies from the close collaboration between retailers in Austria, Switzerland, and southern Germany, particularly in winter sports and biking expertise."
Dr. Holger Schwarting, board member of Zentrasport, has secured a promising future for Austrian sports retailers through the ANWR Group's successful takeover. Schwarting will continue to manage the business until a new management team is appointed and will provide advisory support until the end of the year. "I am thrilled that Austrian sports retailers will have a strong partner in the ANWR GROUP moving forward," says Schwarting. "The Austrian organization's expertise in Ohlsdorf will also help strengthen Sport 2000's international presence."
This strategic expansion by ANWR Group not only enhances its market position but also promises increased cooperation and growth within the European sports retail sector.
