Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk has officially announced the country’s intention to bid for the Olympic Games, targeting the 2040 or 2044 Summer Olympics. This marks a significant step in Poland's ongoing efforts to host the prestigious event, building on the momentum from previous discussions about a bid for the 2036 Games.

Speaking at a sports facility near Warsaw, Tusk emphasized that Poland has been actively preparing for months to make this dream a reality. The bid aims to showcase Poland's growth and its capability to host an event of this magnitude.

Sports Minister Sławomir Nitras highlighted Poland’s successful co-hosting of the Euro 2012 football championships, calling it a "great civilizational project." He expressed confidence that the Olympics would be an even greater opportunity for Poland to demonstrate its development on the world stage.

Tusk also underscored the government's commitment to sports development, promising new measures to enhance infrastructure and ensure Poland is well-prepared to host the Olympics. The initiative is seen as a long-term national project that will involve significant investments in sports facilities and the overall sports ecosystem.

Poland's bid for the Olympics is part of a broader strategy to elevate the nation's status in global sports, drawing on its history of hosting major international events and its growing infrastructure capabilities.
