Pon.Bike, a global leader in the bicycle industry, has officially opened a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Kėdainiai, Lithuania. The new factory, located within the Kėdainiai Free Economic Zone (FEZ), spans 40,000 square meters and features advanced bicycle assembly lines, painting facilities, warehousing, and administrative offices. The opening ceremony was attended by Lithuania’s Minister of Economy and Innovation, Aušrinė Armonaitė, and the Minister of Transport and Communications.

This major foreign direct investment is one of the largest projects in the Kėdainiai FEZ, and it has been granted "major investment project" status by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation. The new Pon.Bike factory is expected to create around 600 jobs in the region, providing a significant boost to Lithuania's economy and positioning the country as a key player in the global micromobility industry.

Janco van der Heiden, Vice President of Operations at Pon.Bike, expressed his gratitude to the Lithuanian team and local partners, stating, "By developing the Pon.Bike factory in Kėdainiai, we have added a new chapter to our hundred-year bicycle history. We are excited for the future and look forward to many years of successful cooperation."

Minister Aušrinė Armonaitė emphasized the importance of Pon.Bike's decision to invest in Lithuania, saying, "The fact that a leading bicycle industry company with over 2,000 employees globally has chosen Kėdainiai is a significant recognition for Lithuania. This major investment strengthens the region, attracting further investment and creating high-value jobs."

The Kėdainiai factory is Pon.Bike’s seventh and most advanced production facility, designed to meet the highest sustainability and clean production standards. The company also operates factories in the Netherlands, Germany, the USA, and Brazil. Algimantas Gedvilas, Plant Manager of Pon.Bike Lithuania, highlighted the seamless integration of best practices from across the company, ensuring the facility operates at the highest industry standards from the outset.

The factory will focus on manufacturing a wide variety of bikes, with a significant portion dedicated to producing e-bikes, which are seen as the future of the bicycle market. Pon.Bike’s investment in Lithuania not only strengthens the country’s position in the micromobility industry but also demonstrates Lithuania’s ability to provide a skilled workforce and robust infrastructure to support high-value industrial investments.

Lithuania's strategic location and favorable investment climate could attract other global bicycle manufacturers, further solidifying the country's role as a hub for sustainable and innovative production.
