The iconic DFB Cup is set to have its first-ever official match ball starting in the 2025/26 season, thanks to a new partnership with Derbystar, a leading brand in football equipment and part of the Select Sport Group. This groundbreaking collaboration with the German Football Association (DFB) will run through the 2030/31 season, covering all matches in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

For the first time in the DFB Cup’s history, every game will feature a uniform match ball, exclusively designed for the tournament. Each season, Derbystar will unveil a unique ball design, differentiated by colors for the men’s and women’s competitions, further elevating the prestige of the cup.

Strategic Significance for Derbystar and the DFB Cup
Joachim Böhmer, COO of Derbystar, highlights the importance of this partnership:
"The DFB Cup holds a special place in both national and international football, blending professional and amateur teams in an exciting competition. This collaboration perfectly aligns with our mission to serve all levels of football and will significantly enhance Derbystar's brand visibility."

Dr. Holger Blask, Chairman of the Management Board of DFB GmbH & Co. KG, also commented:
"This partnership gives the DFB Cup a distinctive identity with its own match ball. As a traditional German company, Derbystar is an ideal partner, demonstrating commitment to both the men’s and women’s tournaments."

Official Launch and Availability
The new match balls for the 2025/26 season will make their debut during the finals of the current season—on May 1, 2025, in Cologne for the women’s competition, and on May 24, 2025, in Berlin for the men’s. These exclusive match balls will be available for purchase in limited quantities through the Derbystar online shop.

Starting July 1, 2025, a full DFB Cup collection, including official match balls, replicas, and mini ball variants, will be available at sports retailers nationwide. This collection will offer fans and players alike a chance to connect with the iconic tournament through high-quality, professionally crafted equipment.

With this partnership, Derbystar not only secures a strong foothold in professional football but also reinforces the DFB Cup’s status as one of the most exciting and inclusive competitions in German football.
