$150 million loan from EBRD to BRISA in Turkey

2016-08-29 source own
It was good news for Turkey’s private sector this week as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced that they would be supporting Brisa Bridgestone Sabanci Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS by providing a $150 million loan. As the chief tyre makers in Turkey, they have grown to become the seventh largest tyre manufacturer in Europe and the loan is set to help them grow as well as the Turkish economy as a whole.

In terms of the business itself, it is a combined effort with the Japanese Bridgestone providing much of the reputation with the name and Haci Omer Sabanci Holding making it all possible in Turkey. Bridgestone is now the largest manufacturer of tyres in the world and they are now reaching more markets than ever before.

With the loan from the EBRD, the company will invest in their new plant in Aksaray Province Organised Industrial Zone. Here, they work on tyres for passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles with Lassa and Bridgestone brands. A small section of the loan will also go towards their bus and truck tyre range.
