New technologies meet winter tourism growth in Central Asia
Kazakhstan’s winter tourism sector is entering a dynamic new phase with the expansion of the Oi-Qaragai resort into Aqtas. Ski Resort Expansion Sets New Standards
Situated in Almaty, Oi-Qaragai is one of Kazakhstan’s premier all-season resorts. Its expansion into Aqtas includes the launch of a new ski area, boosting the total slope length from 18 km to 50 km, with targets of 70 km by 2028. The resort’s transformation is complemented by new lifts, accommodations, restaurants, and entertainment venues—making it a regional hotspot for skiing and mountain tourism in Central Asia.
Integrated Rental and Locker Management by Axess
Guests renting ski equipment benefit from the Axess RESORT RENTAL system, which allows real-time inventory management and customer data access. Visitors can book online via the Axess WEBSTORE, use self-service panels, or get in-person support at the rental desk. Payments are handled through Axess SMART POS, integrating rentals with store purchases.
For safe and convenient storage, over 450 digital lockers have been installed at the Aqtas Gondola Bottom Station. With the Axess RESORT LOCKER SERVICE PANEL, guests can manage their locker access independently, or even book it while purchasing lift tickets—where the ski pass also acts as a locker key.
Smart Ticketing, POS, and Access Systems
To handle growing visitor numbers, the resort features Axess SMART POS terminals, TICKET FRAME 600 kiosks for fast purchases and reloading, and TICKET KIOSK 600 units as full-service checkouts for online orders and ticket printing.
Gate access is streamlined with the Axess FLAP 600 and ADA-compliant modules, ensuring smooth flow even during peak hours. For contactless entry, AX500 Smart Gate NG - Turnstile systems are in place across key lifts.
Efficient Parking with Mobile Payment Integration
To enhance the full guest journey, Axess has also deployed a smart parking system featuring rapid-entry gates and barcode ticket columns. Guests can use Axess PAY MOBILE to pay via smartphone before returning to their vehicles, minimizing queues and improving satisfaction.
