Czech Republic e-Bike Market Expects e-MTB To Grow In Popularity

One of Europe’s most “cycling is a sport” country is the Czech Republic, and the e-bike popularity is expecting to increase in 2020.
Both young and middle-aged individuals are purchasing electric bikes, with the mechanical and electric Mountain bike flying off shelves faster than they can be stocked. Thanks to the e-MTB, it wasn’t long before a huge swath of buyers flocked to these bikes. In 2019, 40 percent of all sales were tied to the e-MTB.
What Are Market Leaders Saying?
Without any officials stats, coming up with the market value isn’t fully possible. Local e-bike market leaders – Leader Fox and Apache – provided information that shows about 40 percent or 32,000 e-bikes were sold. Mountfield, a domestic hobby market chain, came up with an MTF branded e-bike, selling around 14,000 models in 2019.
And, when combined with Czech-based e-bike manufacturers and brands that sell these bikes, the market accounts for approximately 80 percent of all e-bike sales.
The international e-bike players in Czech Republic include Cannondale, Cube, Gepida, Giant, Kellys, Mondraker, Scott and many others. The yearly e-bike market volume for both the domestic and international arena is around 80,000 units, which is an increase of nearly 50 percent (when previous estimates are factored in).
Europe’s Leader
Austria is still the European leader in the e-bike market, with 150,000 units in 2018. However, Czech Republic’s 80,000 units make it the leader of central European countries like Poland and Hungary.
Czech Republic Sees Rise In E-bike Manufacturing
E-bike manufacturing is hitting around 180,000 units thanks to the help of exporters like BIKE FUN International, BPS Bicycle Industrial and others. And, the chance for growth is expected thanks to the announcement of a Czech-based e-bike production facility by the Chinese Golden Wheel Group
