DT Swiss AG, the wheel and component manufacturer, has invested to increase production in their Polish facility. The bicycle industry has seen rapid growth in recent years and this recent move seems to be the company’s response to keep up with demand and move closer to its customer base.
After originally opening nearly a decade ago in 2007, DT Swiss has added a completely new building that is set to see production space double from 6,000 square meters. As a result of the expansion, 80 new jobs are set to be created meaning that the total number of employees in Oborniki (in between Warsaw and Berlin) will rise to 300.
DT Swiss has said that the main motivation for the expansion was the increasing demand in the Aftermarket and the OE business. With this extra building, all wheels will now be hand-built entirely with the company keeping its focus on creating high-quality products. It isn't just the production space that has seen an improvement though as the service centre is also bigger which will have an impact on all service and warranties across Europe as they are all handled here.
After first opening in 1994, DT Swiss AG has now established itself as one of the main names in the market and has six different subsidiaries all around the globe. The company is often considered as the leading producer of bicycle items including spokes and hubs for regular bikes as well as e-bikes.
