LifeFit Group Expands Premium Fitness Portfolio with SportsUp Acquisition

LifeFit Group, a leader in Germany's fitness industry, has strengthened its premium segment with the acquisition of SportsUp, a leading fitness club in Wiesbaden. This marks a significant addition to the Fitness First Black network, LifeFit Group’s high-end fitness brand, and reinforces its commitment to delivering top-tier fitness experiences.
A Premium Fitness Leader in Wiesbaden
SportsUp, one of Wiesbaden’s premier fitness clubs, boasts over 4,000 members, reflecting a remarkable 39% growth since 2020. The club features a 2,000-square-metre training area, a strong emphasis on personal support, and a diverse course offering. LifeFit Group plans to modernize and rebrand the facility, further elevating its appeal to premium fitness enthusiasts.
A Trusted Transition
Founder Claus Maschke, who built SportsUp with passion and dedication, will remain during the transition period before pursuing new ventures. “After many successful years operating SportsUp, now is the right time to integrate it into a larger network with a trusted partner to ensure its continued growth,” Maschke stated.
Strengthening the Fitness First Black Network
The acquisition aligns with LifeFit Group’s strategy to expand its premium fitness offerings. Christophe Collinet, CCO of LifeFit Group, emphasized the importance of the acquisition: “SportsUp is a local market leader and a perfect fit for our Fitness First Black segment. It expands our network and reinforces our premium positioning within the LifeFit Group.”
Johannes Maßen, COO of LifeFit Group and MD of Fitness First, highlighted the growing demand for premium fitness experiences: “Post-pandemic, we observed a faster recovery in our affordable Fitness First Red clubs, but now we’re seeing sustained, strong interest in premium offerings. Integrating SportsUp strengthens our Fitness First Black network in the Rhine-Main region.”
LifeFit Group’s Buy-and-Build Growth Strategy
Under the ownership of Waterland Private Equity, LifeFit Group is executing a buy-and-build growth strategy to expand its portfolio. Recent acquisitions include the Body Culture Group and Buena Vista, further cementing LifeFit Group’s position as a leader in the fitness industry.
