Merkur Sportwetten Expands into Poland with Acquisition of Totolotek Sports Betting Provider

Polish sports betting enthusiasts will soon have a new platform to place their wagers under the iconic MERKUR sun. Merkur Sportwetten GmbH, a leading sports betting company, has announced its acquisition of Totolotek SA, one of Poland’s most well-established sports betting providers, headquartered in Warsaw.
The share purchase agreement between the two companies has been finalized, and they are now awaiting regulatory approval for the merger. With this acquisition, Merkur Sportwetten will enter the Polish market, further expanding its European footprint. Totolotek has been a prominent player in Poland's sports betting industry for over 27 years and is ranked among the top three omnichannel betting companies in the country. The company offers a wide array of sports betting products, available through its network of over 260 retail locations, its website, and its mobile app. Totolotek currently employs 560 people.
Merkur Sportwetten GmbH is a subsidiary of the Gauselmann Group, a renowned gaming giant based in Espelkamp, Germany. The acquisition is part of Merkur Sportwetten’s strategy to consolidate its national and international sports betting operations, which already includes well-known brands like Cashpoint (Austria and Denmark), XTiP (Germany), and Betcenter (Belgium).
Totolotek was previously owned by the Greek conglomerate Intralot, a global leader in integrated gaming systems and sports betting management. This acquisition strengthens Merkur Sportwetten's position in Europe and introduces Polish bettors to the quality and reliability synonymous with the MERKUR brand.
With this move, Merkur Sportwetten is poised to bring its extensive expertise to the growing Polish sports betting market, enhancing the betting experience for local customers both online and at retail locations.
Stay tuned for more updates as Merkur Sportwetten solidifies its presence in Poland, bringing a new level of excitement to sports betting fans across the country.
