Parques Reunidos buys Tropical Islands for 226m euros

Spains leading sports and lesiure Parques Reunidos buys the world’s largest indoor waterpark, Germany’s Tropical Islands, from Malaysian company Tanjong for €226m (US$257.3m, £203.3m). This acquisition is the most significant single-park purchase by Parques Reunidos’ in the history so this will be a major landmark addition to its portfolio.

Tropical Islands is a mix of water parks together with other leisure offerings, with assorted lodging facilities which usually stay open all year round because of its indoor setting. It's based 60 kms (37 miles) south of Berlin, nearby the major cities of Dresden and Leipzig, as well as the Polish and also Czech borders.
