Romania Welcomes Four Innovative Wiegand Projects: Expanding the Adventure Tourism Landscape

Last autumn marked the commencement of a notable Alpine Coaster 2.0 project in Varsag, Transylvania, introducing an engaging new attraction to the region. This installation features a thrilling track that spans approximately 1000 meters downhill and 400 meters uphill, complete with a dedicated toboggan storage area. The specially designed comfort toboggans, accommodating two adults in full winter gear or an adult with a child, ensure a comfortable and safe ride with their deep seat shells and robust backrests.
In the scenic area near Brasov, known as Cheile Gradistei, a commitment to sports of all kinds is embodied in its motto. The locale is a diverse sports paradise, offering everything from via ferratas and ski slopes to biking and hiking trails. It's also the focal point for Romania's biathlon competitions, with past Olympians among our business partners. Ovidiu Gârbacea's vision transformed a modest guesthouse into Cheile Grădiștei Moieciu & Fundata, now one of Romania's largest resorts, boasting extensive facilities including sports courts, a biathlon arena, and more.
The introduction of a new Alpine Coaster in June further enriches the resort's appeal. The innovative track, which rises up to 9 meters in parts and includes thrilling gyro structures, spans approximately 600 meters downhill, providing an adrenaline-pumping experience for visitors. This installation, too, benefits from the advanced, wear-free eddy current braking technology, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and comfortable adventure.
Additionally, Lacul Rosu has embraced the Alpine Coaster experience with a first-generation coaster, where tobogganers can enjoy a 670-meter downhill ride. Wiegand's lift system ensures a seamless ascent for riders and their toboggans back up the mountain.
The expansion didn't stop there; a seventh all-season Wiegand Alpine Coaster is currently underway in Băile Homorod, enhancing the spa town's appeal with this cutting-edge attraction. This latest coaster employs a sophisticated, entirely wear-free braking system, bolstered by magnetic eddy current technology for unmatched safety and comfort. The innovative distance control system ensures optimal spacing between toboggans, automatically adjusting speeds to maintain safety.
Wiegand's commitment to safety is further evident in the use of front and rear lights on toboggans, secure belt locks, and the introduction of a rain cover for the Alpine Coaster 2.0, protecting riders from the elements.
With over 100 of the global 300 Wiegand Alpine Coaster operators now utilizing the "distance control" feature, it's clear that Wiegand's commitment to technology and safety is setting new standards in the adventure tourism industry. As Wiegand continues to expand with new installations in Sweden, France, Poland, the USA, Italy, and China, the brand reaffirms its position as a top choice for discerning investors looking to captivate and entertain visitors with unparalleled adventure experiences.
