Skoda remains as IIHF Worlds main sponsor

2016-04-26 source own
One of the longest deals in sponsorship history is set to continue into 2016 as Skoda has signed the all important contract that will see them sponsor the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Championship. Skoda first sponsored the event way back in 1993 and will serve as the main sponsors of this years version held between May 6-22 in St Petersburg and Moscow.

As a result of the renewal, Skoda will host a number of events, including the reopening of St Petersburg’s Yubileyny Sports Palace Ice Arena, in the lead up to the Championships themselves. A number of top ice hockey players have already taken part in one of Skoda’s first events which saw a number of their cars pass through the centre of St Petersburg. Captain Vladislav Kamenev of the Russian Junior National Team was one of many to attend this event.

The tournament itself is hotly anticipated by all those involved and will see the 16 best teams compete starting with Russia against Czech Republic on the opening day.
