TVS Motor Company buys into UK ebike market

For two and three-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor, acquiring Ebco is the latest phase of its initiative to establish a solid European footprint in the e-bike market. With this move, TVS Motor looks to capitalize on the growing demand for electric bicycles in Europe. Ebco Ltd., owner of the Ebco brand and distributor of German brand Corratec (IKO Europe GmbH), will continue to operate as an independent company. This acquisition strengthens ties between TVS Motor and IKO Europe GmbH, who have been working together since 2016. Together, the two companies plan to develop innovative products that cater to the specific needs.TVS Motor Company has announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Ebco, a British electric bicycle company. Ebco will continue to operate as a standalone company and Corratec, the German electric bike brand that Ebco distributes, will remain under the ownership of Cielo and Konrad Irlbacher. This move by TVS is part of their plan to enter the electric two-wheeler market in Europe. With this acquisition, TVS now has a production capacity of 300,000 electric bikes per year from their newly operational factory in Romania. This is a great step for TVS as they look to expand their business globally with a strong focus on the UK and Central Europe.
