Thule opens new factory in Poland

2018-02-06 source own
Thule Group is a European Company that manufactures, develops and sells sports and outdoor industry products worldwide. The company was founded in 1942 by Erik Thulin and its headquarters is in Malmo, Sweden. It provides its products under the Thule, Case Logic, UWS, TracRac, and SportRack brands, and sells its products to retailers.

The Thule Group has recently opened its new production facility in the town of Pila in western Poland. With a surface area of 13,500 sq.m, the new plant will lead to increased production capacity as well as the possibility of producing more of the newly launched product categories which before now were largely produced by subcontractors.

According to Magnus Welander, Thule Group's CEO; "With our new assembly plant, we will significantly increase both capacity and flexibility in the production of some traditional Thule products in the category sport & cargo carriers. At the same time, we expand our assembly in the "Active with Kids" and "Packs, Bags, and Luggage" categories. For example, our new four-wheeled baby carriage Thule Sleek that will be launched to consumers in the fall of 2018 will be finalized in the new factory,"

Before now, Thule Group has been established for over 20 years in the nearby Polish town of Huta, which is the largest of the company's total of seven European production- and assembly facilities. The investment in this new plant amounts to SEK 80 million ($10 million). These locations allow the company to share key functions between the existing facilities in Huta and the latest factory in Pila. The new facility is expected to initially start with about 100 employees, with the opportunity to expand the workforce to 500 employees in the nearest future.
