Vystaviste to relaunch in Prague

2016-09-13 source own
As a venue used for exhibitions, fairs, concerts, and a number of other events, the Vystaviste has become a popular location and it is now set to undergo a huge renovation. After being partially-destroyed in a devastating fire back in 2008, the Art Deco Industrial Palace will be the first area to be completed.

Located by Bubenec’s Stromovka Park in the Holesovice district of Prague, the Vystaviste exhibition grounds have long needed a renovation and Prague City Hall are responsible for the decision which should finally see it come to life once more. In addition to general updating, Prague City Hall has also said that they would like to see saunas, swimming pools, underground parking, and even a skate park at the site. However, the priority will be to first complete the left wing which was damaged in the fire.

Originally, City Hall wanted to build a completely separate building as a replica but they have been limited somewhat by financial restraints. Now, councillors want to create a temporary hall in which the walls can be moved to adjust for different events. Despite this, the conservationists are set to oppose this move with Jiri Skalicky, Head of Prague Heritage Institute, suggesting that it was an impossible aim.

On the other hand, mayor of Prague 7, Jan Cizinsky, supports the idea saying that Vystaviste absolutely has to keep operating. As a result of the temporary tent that has replaced the wing, many events have cancelled or chosen other locations which many believe isn't sustainable. If the City Hall’s plan for a replica building does come to fruition in the future, it could be a case of moving the temporary hall to a different location to stay in use. With a replica costing over one billion crowns though, the temporary hall may lose the prefix very quickly.
