In 2021 the winter in Jakuszyce lasted a long time. Skiers had good running conditions

In April there was a lot of snow in the Jizera Mountains and skiers had great conditions for running. The long winter made it a bit difficult to carry out some works in the Lower Silesian Sports Center, but the investment will be completed in the fall.

This year, winter conditions in the vicinity of Jakuszyce prevailed even at the end of April. There was a lot of snow in the Jizera Mountains then, there were frosts - as a result, there were very good conditions for skiing. All the time, you could use kilometers of cross-country tracks with several dozen centimeters of snow lying in places.
Skiers happy, builders less

Skiers are primarily satisfied with these weather conditions, when snow lies in the Jizera Mountains from November until the end of April. However, the builders working at the Dolnośląskie Centrum Sporu, which is being built in the Jakuszycka Clearing, had a problem. All because the persistent snow and frosty days caused some works to be postponed.

Among other things, plastering of external facades and work on sealing the roofs were suspended for a short time. However, when the sun returned, it was possible to continue roofing work and insulating the building with polystyrene.

It is worth noting that in recent days all bricklaying works on the construction site and concreting of external stairs and ramps for the disabled at the railway platform have been completed. In addition, concrete slabs were placed on the platform.

Besides, outside - in the area of the biathlon shooting range - soil and rocks after blasting works were taken. The so-called a gabion wall along the plot bordering the forest. Works related to the construction of a retention pond and earthworks in the area of the training pitch are also carried out.

An indoor pool is being built

On the other hand, inside the main building of the Lower Silesian Sports Center, underfloor heating was installed and the floors were poured. Works related to the construction of the indoor swimming pool are also in progress there: appropriate equipment related to the swimming pool technology has been installed, and the installation and insulation works in the pool basin have been completed. Tile laying will begin soon.

Let us add that the main part of the complex will include, among others a small hotel with nearly 100 seats. There are also planned training rooms and a special ICT incubator. In it, the oxygen conditions during training and regeneration will be similar to high mountain conditions, i.e. those prevailing in the Alps.

Let us remind you that several dozen kilometers of already existing cross-country ski trails will be modernized in the DCS area. In addition, three separate loops for professionals have been designed - their length will be over 7 km. In addition to the routes, a biathlon shooting range will be built and all the infrastructure needed by skiers and biathletes: new changing rooms, ski equipment rental, roller skates and bicycles, and ski lubrication booths. It is already known that important sports competitions will be held in Jakuszyce, not only the Piast Race. The International Biathlon Union awarded Jakuszyce with the organization of the European Junior Championships in 2024.

The construction of the DCS at Polana Jakuszycka began in mid-2019. The entire complex is to be ready this fall. The value of the investment is approximately PLN 142 million net. The financing of the works is divided between the Marshal's Office of Lower Silesia, the Lower Silesian Innovation and Science Park and the government.
